Contest Time
Just a reminder for an EASY contest I'm running. Want some free awesome, healthy treats?
Now THIS is the life!
Chloe worships the sun. She would stay out ALL day and just bask if she could!
Anyway, I was laying out to tan this afternoon and went inside to grab something. I came back outside to find Chloe stole my chair!

Ahhh, the life of a Florida chihuahua!

Mr. Chewy Treat Review and Contest! Win Free Treats From Us!
As you can imagine, our five dogs go through a TON of treats! They're a favored staple in our house, and my requirements are that they're healthy and small enough to break into tiny pieces for the chihuahuas (no sausage sized chihuahuas here!).
The cost of treats can really add up, so I always keep my eyes open for websites with lower priced treats.
Recently, I ordered a multitude of treats from Mr. Chewy (http://www.mrchewy.com/). I've never seen such low priced treats until I browsed this website. They have everything from Zukes (Rory LOVES the lamb jerky!), Ziwi Peak (amazing little jerky treats for training), Wellness, to even cat treats for those of you out there with kitties.
Not only do they have treats, they also carry a wide assortment of food for both dogs and cats. Oh, and pottypads/kitty litter and flea/tick meds at discounted prices.
They have some of the best personalized customer service that I've ever seen. Right after I ordered my treats, I received a tracking number. I received my order within 2 days- you can't beat free one to two day shipping on orders over $49.
Seriously, go check them out. Now. http://www.mrchewy.com/
And have I mentioned I'm running a contest? It's an easy one, I promise.

Getting into the Holiday Spirit
There's nothing more festive than a holiday sweater, right?

Right?!

Okay, okay... I'll rephrase it. There's nothing more festive than lots of fun presents!

My friend Jess ("Auntie Jess") comes to stay with the pack when we travel in May, and sent us a wonderful box of Christmas presents!
Tucker did NOT want to share his little chicken!

"OMG IS THIS FOR ME?!"

You know Rory really loves a toy when he preceeds to rip the tag off!

Emma has been obsessively squeaking this little pig toy since we opened the box!

Rylie and Chloe ran off with their toys and avoided having pictures taken.
I hope that everyone is having a wonderful holiday season so far!

It's That Time of the Year Again
We put up the Christmas decorations this weekend.
Emma tested out the new reindeer placemats for our dining room table.
I also sorted through our Christmas tree ornaments and found a handful of rejects to cast to the Land of Misfit ornaments.
There's a one legged Santa:
A horse lion (has a mane like a lion but has a saddle on which is confusing):
Broken home:
Fashionista snowman who says "Ooooh, Honey, you look faboo!"
Because there has to be some kind of curse out there when it comes to throwing out ornaments, I put them back into one of the decoration totes.
After the tree was decorated, the chihuahuas (and the chihuahua wannabe) had their photos taken.
Tucker:
Emma:
Rylie:
Chloe:
Rory... he looks so smug in this one:
His coat is getting incredibly thick.
And one more of Rory that I like as well:

A Very Important Lesson (at least it wasn't learned the hard way)
Two weeks ago, I was in a pretty bad car accident.
I was going straight at about 40 miles per hour, and someone made an illegal left turn from a parking lot on my right. I ended up hitting into her driver side door and was slammed in the face with my airbag.
I'm lucky that I was able to walk out with a bruised nose, some airbag and seatbelt burns, and minor soreness. I'm extremely thankful that I didn't have any dogs in my car.
I've had this bad habit over the past year or so. When we're running a quick errand, I'll take Emma along for the ride if I'm going to be the passenger. When the dogs aren't gated off, Emma will notice I'm grabbing my purse and my shoes, and she'll beg to come along for the ride. I always feel guilty and bring her with me to sit on my lap.
I AM NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN!
Seriously, an accident can happen just as easily on a 10 hour drive or a 10 minute drive. My accident from 2 weeks ago happened about 5 minutes after I drove away in my car. Had Emma been sitting on my lap, she probably wouldn't have survived... and I never would have forgiven myself for it.
Anytime we drive anywhere planned with the dogs, we make sure that they're as safe as they can be. The chihuahuas always ride in their crates, strapped in. Rory will be wearing a seat belt harness on our vacation next month.
So... public service announcement of the day: NEVER hold you dogs in your lap while driving. Make sure they are safe and secured in your vehicle. It is NOT worth it to lose a pet because you want to hold them on your lap for a "quick" ride to the store.
